Module 3: UbD Lesson Plan & Rationale
Using the UbD process, you will be revising a current lesson plan in your content area (please be sure the lesson plan is one that you have created). Include the following:
1. Developmentally appropriate strategies identified in Module 2.
2. Lesson title, concept/topic, goals/objectives, standards (CCSS and other relevant state standards), required materials, anticipatory set, step-by-step procedures, assessment, technology integration, adaptations & extensions.
3. Three references to support your plan.
You will find a UbD template and sample in the General Resources tab above (once there, visit the Lesson Plans section); you'll also see a sample Unit Plan below (especially handy for the Module 6 assignment).
Regarding a rubric for the rationale portion, here is the criteria I will use to evaluate your rationale:
o All of the required assignment content was present. Major points were compelling and thoroughly addressed. Significant support was evident, relevant and convincing. Word length requirement was met. (40 points total)
o Paragraphs were sophisticated and well constructed; ideas progressed and related to each other. Writer is clearly in command of standard, written, academic English. (10 points total)

Time to get creative! First, be sure to reread the details in the UbD etext about the Six Facets of Understanding. Then complete the following:
1. Create a graphic organizer identifying and describing the six facets. Remember that graphic organizers come in all shapes and sizes! You can create a Prezi or use Piktochart, if you're feeling tech savvy. Or you could create a graphic organizer using Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher). Here are some ideas to spark your imagination:

o NCY’s DOE Common Core Library of resources: http://schools.nyc.gov/Academics/CommonCoreLibrary/default.htm (Many other states
have similar sites that are quite thorough, as well!).
o A simple Google search for “depth of knowledge” and “DOK” will result in lots of useful information.
